Purpose of Role

As a Primary School English Teacher, you will drive student success by delivering engaging lessons and maintaining high expectations for academic growth and behavior. This role includes planning, collaboration, assessment, and active participation in the school’s culture and community.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver lessons in English, Social Science, and Personal and Social Well-being for assigned grade levels.
  • Design engaging and inclusive lesson plans and resources for in-person and online instruction.
  • Collaborate with grade-level and content area teams to develop individualized learning and behavior plans.
  • Facilitate weekly Social Emotional Learning (SEL) circles and implement the SEL curriculum.
  • Administer and mark assessments to track student progress and analyze data to ensure academic growth.
  • Drive all scholars to meet required proficiency ratings and submit student performance data as needed.
  • Attend pre-service professional development, weekly training, and other required interventions.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Promote and uphold SPARK Schools’ vision, mission, and culture.
  • Participate in Saturday events and parent community meetings.
  • Adhere to child protection, anti-bullying, and health and safety policies.

Qualifications and Criteria

  • Education:
    • B.Ed. degree or PGCE (Intermediate Phase).
    • Senior Phase/FET qualifications are also encouraged.
    • SAQA accreditation for non-South African equivalent qualifications.
  • Certification:
    • Registration with the South African Council of Educators (SACE).
  • Language:
    • English fluency.
  • Record:
    • Clean criminal record.

  • Recently qualified teachers or experienced educators are welcome to apply.
