Position Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies extends an invitation for an adept Application Development Manager to integrate with our team at the Midrand headquarters. The incumbent will be tasked with the optimal orchestration of technical resources to align with the business’s strategic imperatives. The role entails the appraisal of extant applications, adherence to prevailing industry norms, and the incorporation of exemplary practices. The role demands meticulous orchestration and surveillance of application development endeavors to achieve timely, cost-efficient, and superior outcomes in harmony with established standards.
Minimum Prerequisites
Essential:
- Matriculation or equivalent Senior Certificate
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Engineering (B.Eng or B.Sc), Informatics, or a related discipline
- At least five years of proficiency as an SAP ABAP and Fiori/SAPUI5 developer
Preferred:
- SAP Certification
- Five to eight years of analogous experience
Role Specifications
IT Application Delivery:
- Supervise the genesis and deployment of novel applications and enhancements, ensuring congruence with business aspirations.
- Scrutinize existing applications for efficacy, efficiency, and potential enhancement.
- Facilitate technical dialogues to converge on foundational solution architectures and implementation methodologies.
- Deploy IT solutions to optimize cost management and augment business profitability.
- Establish and monitor target and budget objectives, ensuring steadfast cost control across operational domains.
- Oversee the design, delivery, and iterative improvement of solutions to amplify automation and innovation.
- Institute coding standards and advocate adherence.
- Champion the adoption of new technologies and refinement of internal coding standards.
- Foster innovation and best practices through critical evaluation of design premises.
- Execute all phases of IT development in compliance with legislative and audit requirements.
- Conduct comprehensive analyses of current software applications, pinpointing areas for refinement and optimization.
- Ensure the expeditious resolution of customer IT services within agreed timelines.
Project Management:
- Assume ownership of designated tasks and projects, ensuring alignment with business expectations.
- Supervise multiple projects, preemptively identifying risks and issues, and initiating appropriate corrective actions to ensure project performance aligns with goals.
- Develop and sustain project plans, application/system documentation, and standards.
- Execute IT projects aligned with strategic objectives, employing specific performance metrics for progress tracking.
- Implement business enhancements based on thorough data analysis and benchmarking.
- Oversee IT projects to guarantee timely implementation and efficacy.
- Prepare business cases for project and technology updates.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Ensure stakeholders comprehend and are trained in the effective utilization of delivered solutions.
- Foster and manage objective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including end-users, SMEs, and project managers, by providing input to business requirements.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, contributing to business requirements.
- Nurture an environment conducive to software development and mentoring.
- Report on project deliverables to keep stakeholders informed and ensure deadlines are met.

Team Management:
- Provide technical guidance and ensure adherence to development standards.
