Position Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies seeks proficient Cashiers for their Cavendish Square, Claremont location. The role demands delivering exemplary customer service at the point of sale, ensuring an exceptional shopping experience. Responsibilities include accurately recording transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system following company policies and standard procedures, with zero tolerance for inaccuracies and a focus on fraud prevention.


Minimum Prerequisites

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matriculation
  • At least 6 months of experience in cashier or till operations
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Basic customer service skills
  • Willingness and ability to work retail hours

Job Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures
  • Establish professional relationships with customers
  • Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
  • Meet the customer turnover hourly rate
  • Stay informed about current sales and promotions
  • Ensure the safety of colleagues and customers
  • Apply Dis-Chem’s five-star communication principles
  • Manage cash flow responsibly
  • Ensure line voids and price changes are approved and signed off by the supervisor
  • Process merchandise exchanges and accept returned goods when authorized
  • Handle all transactions, including cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and other payment methods accepted by Dis-Chem
  • Process all loyalty cards, including those from our accelerator partners (Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks)
  • Deposit cash in drop safe according to Dis-Chem’s SOPs
  • Maintain exclusive use of your code and password, ensuring their safety and regular updates
  • Scan and process all outgoing stock/items/scripts
  • Keep all money secure within the till
  • Handle daily takings confidentially, discussing only with management
  • Be vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to management
  • Address customer queries regarding store merchandise
  • Comply with Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures
