Purpose of Role

As an FET Phase Educator specializing in English Home Language and isiZulu FAL, you will play a critical role in fostering academic achievement, cultural growth, and personal development among high school scholars. This role requires delivering high-quality lessons, assessing scholar progress, and collaborating with colleagues to support the SPARK Schools’ mission.


Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching and Lesson Delivery:
    • Plan and teach both face-to-face and online lessons.
    • Deliver lessons for academic and club sessions.
  • Collaboration and Planning:
    • Work with grade-level and subject-area teams to develop engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences.
    • Design and implement individualized behavior and learning plans.
  • Assessment and Data Analysis:
    • Develop and administer assessments to track progress and ensure proficiency.
    • Analyze scholar data to identify growth areas and implement interventions where needed.
  • Character Development:
    • Lead Character Quotient (CQ) sessions and promote social-emotional development.
    • Contribute to career and tertiary education initiatives.
  • Behavior Management and Culture:
    • Implement SPARK Schools’ culture and behavior strategies.
    • Create a supportive and high-achieving classroom environment.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and stakeholders.
    • Attend Saturday events and parent meetings.
  • Professional Development:
    • Participate in ongoing professional development and training sessions.
  • Compliance:
    • Adhere to policies on child protection, health, and safety.

Qualifications and Criteria

  • Education:
    • B.Ed or PGCE degree in English and isiZulu (FET Phase).
  • Experience:
    • 2-3 years of experience in a high school teaching context.
  • Certification:
    • SACE registration.
  • Language:
    • Fluency in English and isiZulu.
  • Record:
    • Clean criminal record.
