Job Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is actively building a strategic talent pool of Trainee Admin Managers for various store locations. This talent pool ensures that pre-screened candidates with the necessary skills and qualifications are readily available for future job openings within the company.

Purpose of the Role

The Trainee Admin Manager will assist in managing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s administration policies and procedures. The role requires adherence to group standard operating procedures to ensure the store’s profitability.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Education: Grade 12/Matric
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in retail (including receiving, front shop operations, customer service, HR management, and store administration).
  • Management Experience: At least 2 years managing a staff complement of around 8 people.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office; Computer literate.
  • Other: Willing and able to work retail hours; Valid driver’s license; Own reliable transport.

Advantageous:

  • Education: Diploma/Degree in Financial/Administration/Retail/Business Management.
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of SAP with a focus on retail operation systems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Manager with daily operations and optimize store performance.
  • Manage goods in transit as per Dis-Chem procedures.
  • Control branch shrinkage and manage consumable expenses to meet store objectives.
  • Encourage and report on new loyalty signups.
  • Manage and facilitate HR processes, submissions, and documentation for the business unit.
  • Oversee the workforce management system (KRONOS).
  • Implement and execute company performance management systems as per policy.
  • Manage store cash resources and daily takings.
  • Monitor transaction integrity and ensure adherence to internal control procedures.
  • Manage cashier service levels and productivity.
  • Supervise goods receiving, direct and indirect credits within the business unit.
  • Mentor and develop staff members in these functions.
  • Assist with budget preparation and maintenance within the store.

Competencies

Essential:

  • Retail admin and management experience (receiving, capturing, till operations, cash office, and customer service).
  • Strong command of the English language.
  • Basic financial skills (GP, mark-up, VAT).
  • Effective interaction with suppliers, management, reps, and staff.
  • Strong analytical and time management skills.

Advantageous:

  • Basic IR and management training.
  • Basic accounting knowledge.
  • Leadership portrayal.

Special Conditions of Employment

  • Willing and able to work retail hours.
  • Local traveling is required (valid driver’s license and own reliable transport).
  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Clear credit and criminal records.
