We’re seeking a Retail Asset Protection and Security Manager for our Bryanston, Johannesburg location. This role focuses on identifying and communicating security risks, recommending cost-effective corrective measures, and ensuring effective controls within the organization.

Line Manager: Chief Operations Officer

Key Performance Areas:

Operational Retail Security Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess security risks, including criminal activities, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Continuously recommend improvements and cost-effective counter-measures.
  • Monitor compliance with implemented measures and communicate non-compliance.

Additional Performance Areas:

  • Conduct investigations and interviews, coordinate with law enforcement authorities, and generate comprehensive incident reports.
  • Develop and employ loss prevention programs, maintain partnerships with law enforcement agencies, and drive continual improvement in security standards.
  • Manage store inspections, installation of security equipment, and relationships with security service providers.
  • Plan external audits and assessments, monitor security controls, and ensure uptime of electronic security equipment.

Investigations and Store Incidents:

  • Act as the first coordinator for store incidents, conduct investigations, and liaise with HR on findings.
  • Provide regular feedback to relevant stakeholders and notify on high-risk matters within 24 hours.

Security and Situational Awareness:

  • Conduct security awareness training and monthly mock drills at stores to test operational readiness.

Store Cash, Stock, and Fixed Assets:

  • Review process flow, investigate high cash and stock losses, and attend to cash handling queries.

Ad hoc / general:

  • Investigate ad hoc issues, prepare status reports, and attend internal review meetings.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in retail operations and at least 8 years’ experience in risk management.
  • Experience in cross-functional teams, especially with Human Resources, Industrial Relations, and Retail Operations Departments.

Qualifications:

  • Matric Certificate (Grade 12).
  • National Diploma in Security Risk Management or related qualification.
  • Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) registered – Grade A.

Additional Requirements:

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Valid manual driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel extensively nationally with overnight stays.
  • On standby availability for urgent ad-hoc incidents.
  • Extensive stock management experience.
  • Knowledge of OHASA Act.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of risk and security market trends and relevant legislation changes.
