Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an exciting opportunity for a Retail Store Assistant to join their South Coast store in Margate, KwaZulu-Natal.
This is a permanent position where you’ll help with the overall management of the store, making sure operational and administrative duties run smoothly according to company policy and procedure.

What You’ll Be Doing
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Customer Service
- Managing and reporting all customer compliments and complaints to management.
- Establishing professional relationships with customers.
- Ensuring all customer stock queries are dealt with and resolved.
- Maintaining effective communication with customers when they require feedback.
- Assisting customers with enquiries and referring them to the appropriate departments.
- Adhering to the customer turnover per hour rate as per company benchmark.
Cash & Point of Sale Management
- Managing the shorts and overs at the point of sale, including floats.
- Managing refund and return transactions.
- Ensuring back shopping and returned goods are handled correctly.
- Preparing the run reconciliation on a daily basis.
- Preparing, ordering, and receiving branch change requirements to ensure cashiers have enough change for excellent customer service.
- Maintaining effective document control including float, petty cash, and cash on hand.
Stock & Delivery Management
- Verifying and reviewing deliveries and invoices for total accuracy.
- Assisting the Receiving Manager in preparing and logging Distribution Centre claims on the DC claims system.
- Managing and controlling high-risk stock.
Communication & Liaison
- Maintaining effective liaison between relevant parties.
Minimum Requirements
Essential
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- SAP experience
- Retail experience
